I would like to thank Darren Bell for his kind contributions to Bally’s Patch community garden. Darren visited as a representative of the Access All Areas (AAA) Community Garden on Railway St, Corrimal. Darren has offered a series of plants over many months; basil and many other herbs, comfrey, and even a coffee tree and ice cream bean tree (both of which are growing strength in pots before they are transplanted to a place on site). Darren has offered these plants as in kind, with the intention that once our communal plants are established we can do return to the favour with propagations, seedlings and cuttings for AAA Corrimal. Along with this, Darren has extended an invitation to visit the garden in Corrimal.
The success of any community organisation/group relies heavily on supporting other locals, and sharing ideas. The Access All Areas garden falls within the Access Community Group. You can read more about them via http://www.acg.com.au or their Facebook page.
I will be taking my kids to the AAA community garden this week for an activity to fill one day of the school holidays. Maybe you could visit too? Or find another Illawarra community garden to gain and share ideas with.
