We’re making hot compost: we need you AND your grass clippings.

We are making our first batch of hot compost, and we would love for you to join us! Action begins this Saturday October 31 at 9.30am.

If you can spare an hour, we will begin simply by scratching back the mulch in the large circle designated for the new (large!) communal veggie patch. While we are on the composting train, we will also move the current load of mixed compost from the bay to the bins ready to be ‘cooked’.

Over the coming two weeks, we are asking for fresh grass clippings to use for the hot compost. Please drop this off in a pile on the northern boundary of the site just next to the compost bays.

In two weeks time (Saturday November 14) the ingredients will all be piled up together (in two mounds) ready to cook and turn into rich compost, followed soon after by planting a summer crop!
